Sir Rupert Hamer held the office of Premier of Victoria from August 1972 until June 1981. Known as a pioneer of environmental responsibility and government support for the arts, Sir Rupert's contributions to public life include the abolishment of the death penality and the establishment of the Environmental Authority.
